NCAR 039 Landscape Design Workshop
Course Description: This unique six-week workshop will teach you to draw a residential property to scale and develop a landscape design based on specific site and activity analysis. You will learn how to take field measurements, sketch a site, analyze activity throughout the landscape, transfer field sketches to scaled graph paper, identify landscape needs and select specific plants from a basic palette of trees, shrubs and perennials. The more knowledge of plants you bring to the class, the more successful you will be. Each session will consist of a short talk and discussion, followed by individual work supervised by the instructor. Students who complete the class work and the outside assignments should leave the workshop with a workable final design.
Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of trees, shrubs, perennials and their culture.
