Highlights of Modern Western Art

Course Description: Utilizing a different painting each week as a starting point for discussion, this course will survey the major movements in Western art from the Italian Renaissance through the development of Abstraction in the early twentieth century. Numerous works will be viewed in each class. Students will become proficient in the language of art history and learn how to compare and contrast works of art.
