NCLE 017 The Nature of the Hero and How to Create One
Course Description: How do you compel your reader or audience to follow your story to the last line, to learn what happens to your hero? The hero’s journey is one of cinema, drama, and literature’s grandest themes. Authors of fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, plays, and screenplays will complete this workshop with a deeper understanding of how stories are told and how to create and shape stories that move us, using elements of dramatic writing such as plot, point of view, discovery of theme, recognition and reversal, and writing in scene. You will learn Hollywood secrets of creating heroes audiences love, examine classic books and movies, and workshop short pieces incorporating knowledge gained in class. This workshop is for anyone with a story to tell, and the heart to take the writer’s journey.
