Monroe and Ash Lawn-Highland

Course Description: Explore the life and home of our fifth president and local resident, James Monroe. Learn about his political career, religion, view on slavery, portraiture, collections, the restoration of his home, and conservation of its furnishings. Includes an after-hours tour of Ash Lawn-Highland and reception. Lecturers include specialists from U.Va., William & Mary, Mary Washington, and Library of Virginia.
